During this scientific conference, Association of Pharmacy Professionals (APP) Andhra Pradesh State Branch organized 1st Indo-Canadian International Conference on “Global Aspects and Present Scenario of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences” at Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Enikepadu, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh on August 18-19, 2023 in collaboration with APP Canadian International Branch and APP AnalChem Division, in the commemoration of “World Humanitarian Day 2023”.
During this Indo-Canadian International Conference, Sri. B. S. Sri Krishna, Secretary, SRK Foundation, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh acted as ‘Patron’; Prof. K. Padmalatha, Principal, Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Enikepadu, Vijayawada as ‘Convener’; Prof. Rajiv Dahiya, Founder President APP and Former Director, School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medical Sciences, The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad & Tobago, West Indies as ‘Organizing Chairman’; Dr. Sunita Dahiya, General Secretary APP from Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Pharmacy, University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus, San Juan, PR, USA as ‘Scientific Committee Chairman’; Dr. Raja Abhilash Punagoti, Pharmacovigilance Associate, Innomar Strategies Inc., AmerisourceBergen, Oakville, Ontario, Canada as ‘Co-convener’; Dr. Komalpreet Kaur, Employment Instructor, Catholic Family Services, Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada as ‘Scientific Committee Co-Chairman’; Prof. Suresh V. Chennupati, HOD, Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis, Nalanda College of Pharmacy, Charlapally, Nalgonda, Telangana as ‘Guest of Honor’ and ‘Scientific Committee Co-Chairman’.
The conference started with ‘welcome address’ by Prof. K. Padmalatha, President, APP Andhra Pradesh State Branch and Principal, Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Enikepadu, Vijayawada and ‘opening remarks’ by Prof. Rajiv Dahiya, Founder President, Association of Pharmacy Professionals (APP) and Former Director, School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medical Sciences, The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad & Tobago, West Indies. The first day of the conference included online scientific session-I, which was initiated with virtual lecture of Dr. Shyam Shastri Maharaj, Clinical Pharmacist, St. Joseph’s Healthcare, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and President, APP Canadian International Branch on topic ‘Preventing Adverse Outcomes of Therapy in Seniors’. This online session was chaired by Prof. Ronald Darwin C, National Coordinator, APP MolPharm Division and Head, Department of Pharmacology, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Vels deemed to be University (VISTAS), Pallavaram, Chennai, Tamil Nadu and Prof. Piyush Mittal, Joint Secretary, APP Uttar Pradesh State Branch and Head, Department of Clinical Pharmacy, Teerthanker Mahaveer College of Pharmacy, Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh in virtual mode. This was followed by e-oral presentations from staff members and students of the hosting and other surrounding institutions in different sections of pharmaceutical sciences.
The second day of the conference started with ‘welcome speech’ and ‘opening remarks’ by Prof. S. Venkateswara Rao, Vice-Principal & HOD, Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh and Prof. Suresh V. Chennupati, HOD, Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis, Nalanda College of Pharmacy, Charlapally, Nalgonda, Telangana. The scientific session-II in face to face mode was enriched with lecture of Prof. S. V. Rajendra, Vice Principal, Mallige College of Pharmacy, Silvepura, Chikkabanavara, Bangalore, Karnataka on topic ‘Utility of Cell Lines in Advanced Biomedical Research’. This was followed by lecture of Dr. Sunit Kumar Sahu, Lecturer, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha and Secretary, APP Odisha State Branch on the topic ‘Lipid and Surfactant Mediated Micro and Nano Drug Delivery Systems’. Certificates of appreciation were extended to both resource person for their time/efforts and educating the young pharmacy professionals. The scientific session was chaired by Prof. M. Vani, National Coordinator, APP Natural Products Research & Development Division from Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Phytochemistry, Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Enikepadu, Vijayawada and Prof. Purushothama Reddy K, National Coordinator, APP Community & Clinical Pharmacy Division and HOD, Department of Pharmacy Practice, Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Vijayawada.
During the valedictory function, Prof. S. V. Rajendra, Vice Principal, Mallige College of Pharmacy, Silvepura, Chikkabanavara, Bangalore was felicitated with ‘APP Innovative Researcher Award 2023’ by Prof. K. Padmalatha, President, APP Andhra Pradesh State Branch from VIPSW, Vijayawada and Dr. Sunit Kumar Sahu, Secretary, APP Odisha State Branch from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar. In addition, Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Enikepadu was conferred with ‘APP Best Women Institution Award 2023’ for providing quality pharmaceutical education in the region by Prof. Suresh V. Chennupati, National Head, APP AnalChem Division from Nalanda College of Pharmacy, Charlapally, Nalgonda, Telangana and Dr. Sunit Kumar Sahu, Secretary, APP Odisha State Branch. At end, the convener and patron were honored with ‘APP Appreciation Awards’ for their untiring efforts in accomplishment of the conference and best orations were awarded in different sections. The conference attended by Dr. Bharathi Arigela, Associate Professor, KVSR Siddhartha College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Vijayawada and other faculty members/students of diverse surrounding pharmacy institutions. The conference ended with closing remarks and vote of thanks by Prof. Sundar Sankaralingam, National Coordinator, APP BioTech Division from Department of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.
