Association of Pharmacy Professionals (APP) Madhya Pradesh State Branch organized  28th Indo-US International Conference on “Global Findings and Current Perspective of Pharmaceutical Sciences” on October 06-07, 2023 at Narasaraopeta Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Yellamanda, Narasaraopet, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, in collaboration with APP American International Branch and APP Natural Products Research and Development Division, in the commemoration of “World Teacher’s Day 2023“.
During this scientific conference, Sri Mittapalli Venkata Koteswararao, Chairman, Narasaraopeta Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Yellamanda; Mr. Ramesh, Secretary, Narasaraopeta Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Yellamanda; Mr. Chakravarthi Mittapalli and Mr. Kishore Mittapalli, Directors, Narasaraopeta Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Yellamanda acted as ‘Patrons’; Dr. Sunita Dahiya, General Secretary APP from School of Pharmacy, University of Puerto Rico, San Juan, Puerto Rico, USA as ‘Organizing Chairman’; Prof. J. N. Suresh Kumar, Secretary, APP Andhra Pradesh State Branch and Principal, Narasaraopeta Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Yellamanda as ‘Convener’; Dr. Sushil Kumar Kashaw, President, APP Madhya Pradesh State Branch from Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dr. H. Chennupati, National Head, APP Analytical Chemistry Division from Nalanda College of Pharmacy, Cherlapally, Nalgonda, Telangana as ‘Co-Conveners’ and Prof. Rajiv Dahiya, Founder President APP and Former Director, School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medical Sciences, The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago as ‘Scientific Committee Chairman’.
The conference started with ‘welcome speech’ by Chairman and Principal of the hosting institution, and lightening of lamp by the invited guests. Scientific session of the conference was initiated with online keynote lecture of Prof. Somnath Singh, Department of Pharmacy Sciences, School of Pharmacy and Health Professions, Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska, USA who addressed the gathering on the topic ‘Hydrogen Sulfide in Glaucoma: Delivery System, Hypotensive and Neuroprotective Effects. This virtual session was chaired by Prof. Mehul N. Patel, Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology, Faculty of Pharmacy, Dharamsinh Desai University, Nadiad, Gujarat and Dr. Sushil Kumar Kashaw, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dr. H. S. Gour Central University, Sagar, Madhya Pradesh. Other two lectures were delivered by Prof. Malarkodi Velraj, Department of Pharmacognosy, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Vels deemed to be University (VISTAS), Pallavaram, Chennai, Tamil Nadu and Prof. K. N. Venkateswara Rao, Principal, Nalanda College of Pharmacy, Cherlapally, Nalgonda, Telangana on the topics like ‘Outstanding Contribution of Herbal Drugs: Associated Challenges and Potential Opportunities’ and ‘Challenges of the Indian Pharmaceutical Sector in Current Scenario’.
During the valedictory function, Prof. K. N. V. Rao, Principal, Nalanda College of Pharmacy, Cherlapally, Nalgonda, Telangana was felicitated with ‘APP Best Achiever Award 2023‘ for his outstanding achievements, by Prof. Malarkodi Velraj, National Coordinator, APP Natural Products R & D Division and Prof. J. N. Suresh Kumar, Secretary, APP Andhra Pradesh State Branch. Also appreciation awards were extended to chairman and principal of hosting college. In addition, Mr. M. Rama Krishna, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis, Narasaraopeta Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Yellamanda was conferred with ‘Best Performer Award’; Mr. Pulipongu Lazaru, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice, Narasaraopeta Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Yellamanda with ‘Best Pharmacist Award’; Dr. Raghavendra Kumar Gunda, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics, Narasaraopeta Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Yellamanda with ‘Best Researcher Award’ and Mr. Nori Kodanda Ram, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacology, Narasaraopeta Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Yellamanda with ‘Best Talent Award’. In student category, Mr. N. Manikanta Kumar, Ms. Syed Salma, B.Pharm (4th Year) Students, Narasaraopeta Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Yellamanda and Mr. D. V. Nagendra Babu, Ms. K. Sri Lakshmi Priyanka, Pharm.D (6th Year) Students, Narasaraopeta Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Yellamanda, were felicitated with ‘Best Outgoing Student Awards’ in male and female categories. At the end, Narasaraopeta Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Yellamanda was conferred with ‘APP Best Institution Award 2023’ for providing quality pharmaceutical education in Narasaraopet region. All the awards were provided by Prof. Suresh V. Chennupati, National Head, APP Analytical Chemistry Division who acted as ‘Guest of Honor’ and Prof. Malarkodi Velraj, National Coordinator, APP Natural Products R & D Division. Various posters were presented during scientific session of this Indo-US International Conference and best poster prizes were distributed. At last, the scientific event ended with ‘Vote of thanks’ by the convener.

Shah, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacy, Sumandeep Vidyapeeth Deemed to be University, Piparia, Waghodia, Vadodara, Gujarat on topic ‘In Silico Drug Design: A Catalytic Tool for Modern Drug Discovery’ and Prof. Gaurav Gupta, Department of Pharmacology, School of Pharmacy, Suresh Gyan Vihar University, Jagatpura, Jaipur, Rajasthan on topic ‘Artificial Intelligence in Pharmaceutical Research and Development’. The session was also enriched with invited lecture of Prof. Alekha K. Dash, Associate Dean (Research), School of Pharmacy and Health Professions, Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska, USA who addressed the gathering on ‘Liposomes and Transferosomes for the Topical Delivery of Papain in the treatment of Hypertrophic Scars’. The pre-lunch and post-lunch sessions were chaired by Prof. Mehul N. Patel, Department of Pharmaceutics, Faculty of Pharmacy, Dharmsinh Desai University, Nadiad, Gujarat At the end of lectures, each resource person was felicitated with ‘Appreciation certificates’ as a token of thanks. Oral and poster competitions were also conducted during the pre-lunch and post-lunch sessions and the winners were awarded with medals and certificates.
During the valedictory function, Dr. Naazneen I. Surti, Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics, Indukaka Ipcowala College of Pharmacy, Anand, Gujarat was conferred with ‘Best Researcher Award’ for her noteworthy research performance; Dr. Mehul K. Bhatt, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacognosy, Indubhai Patel College of Pharmacy and Research Centre, Dharmaj, Anand, Gujarat with ‘Best Teacher Award’ for his noteworthy teaching performance; Dr. Dimalkumar A. Shah, Professor, Department of Quality Assurance, Indukaka Ipcowala College of Pharmacy, Anand, Gujarat with ‘Best Achiever Award’ for his outstanding teaching and research performance; Dr. Rahil Bhura, Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics, Shivam Pharmaceutical Studies & Research Centre, Valasan, Anand, Gujarat with ‘Best Performer Award’ in recognition of his overall outstanding performance and Dr. Hetal D. The convener, chief patron and patron were felicitated with ‘Appreciation Awards’ for their untiring efforts for the accomplishment of Indo-US International Conference by the President, APP American International Branch from Creighton University, Omaha, USA; President, APP Gujarat State Branch and Chief Advisor, APP Gujarat State Branch from Dharmsinh Desai University, Nadiad, Gujarat. Vaghela, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry, Sharda School of Pharmacy, Pethapur, Gandhinagar, Gujarat who addressed the gathering on ‘Herbal Cosmeceuticals’. The session was chaired by Dr. Ankita S. Patel, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Sharda School of Pharmacy, Pethapur. Oral and poster competitions were also conducted after the lecture session and the winners were awarded with medals and certificates at the end of conference.
The second day of conference started with ‘opening remarks’ of Prof. Ankit B. Chaudhary, Vice President, APP Gujarat State Branch and Principal, Saraswati Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dhanap, Gandhinagar. This scientific session of the conference was enriched with scientific lectures of speakers from International and National Universities like Prof. Alekha K. Dash, Associate Dean (Research), School of Pharmacy and Health Professions, Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska, USA who addressed the gathering on ‘Pre-formulation Studies on Two Novel Indole-2-Carboxamides, Highly Potent against Nontuberculous Mycobacteria’. Last lecture was delivered by Dr. Saurabh Kumar Banerjee, Dean & Associate Professor, School of Pharmaceutical Management, The IIHMR University, Jaipur, Rajasthan and National Head, APP Pharmaceutical Education & HealthCare Management who spoke about ‘Career Opportunities in Medical Device Industry for Pharmacy & Healthcare Students‘. This session was chaired by Prof. Hiral J. Panchal, Principal, Shree Swaminarayan Sankar Pharmacy College, Zundal, Gandhinagar, Gujarat and Executive Member, APP Gujarat State Branch.

Sathesh Kumar, Principal, SNS College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu and Prof. Jyoti Shrivastava, HOD, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, The Oxford College of Pharmacy, Hongasandra, Bangalore, Karnataka who addressed the gathering on different topics of pharmaceutical interest viz. ‘Development and Characterization of Nanoparticulate Delivery System for the Treatment of Cutaneous Melanoma’, ‘Nano Drug Delivery Systems for Alzheimer’s Disease – A Futuristic Therapeutic Approach’ and ‘The Neuroscience and Benefits of ASMR’. The pre-lunch session was chaired by the Mr. Arun JL, Head, Department of Pharmaceutics; Dr. Keerthi GS Nair, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics and the after lunch session was chaired by Dr. Anoopma John L, Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, The Dale View College of Pharmacy and Research Centre, Punalal, Poovachal, Thiruvananthapuram.
Oral and e-poster competitions were also conducted during the afternoon session and the winners were awarded with medals and certificates at the end of conference. During the valedictory function, the convener and patron were conferred with ‘APP Appreciation Awards’ for their untiring efforts for successful conduction of this Indo-US International Conference, in the commemoration of “World Health Day”. Further, President APP American International Branch announced the name of Prof. S. Sathesh Kumar, Principal, SNS College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu as new ‘Vice President‘ of the APP Tamilnadu State Branch. During the event, Prof. Alekha K. Dash, President, APP American International Branch from School of Pharmacy and Health Professions, Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska, USA and Prof. S. Sathesh Kumar, Head, Department of Pharmaceutics, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Vels University (VISTAS), Pallavaram, Chennai, Tamilnadu addressed the professional gathering on issues related to pharmaceutical technology and sciences including Advances and challenges of nanomedicine.
Prof. Alekha Dash told that the application of nanotechnology in medicine for addressing medical and health-related issues has shown tremendous progress over the last few decades. Because of their unique small size, nanomaterials exhibit novel chemical, physical, and biological properties that are distinct from bulk materials. Nanomedicine is not limited to pharmaceutical formulation but it has applications that span a multitude of areas including drug delivery, diagnosis and imaging, wearable devices, implants, personalized medicine, and high-throughput screening platforms. Prof. Dash also discussed  that liposomal doxorubicin (DoxilTM) was the first anti-cancer nanomedicine approved in 1996 and after that, many additional drugs have been approved and are at various stages of their development. During the valedictory function, Mr. A. Jayarami Reddy, Associate Professor, VIPSW, Vijayawada was conferred with ‘Best Performer Award’ and Prof. K. Padmalatha, Principal, VIPSW was honored with ‘Appreciation Award’ by Prof. Alekha K. Scientific session II was initiated with online lecture of Prof. Somnath Singh, Department of Pharmaceutics, School of Pharmacy and Health Professions, Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska, USA who addressed the gathering on the topic ‘Genomic revolution in pharmacy practice and drug development’. This session was virtually chaired by Prof. Mehul N. Patel, Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology, Faculty of Pharmacy, Dharamsinh Desai University, Nadiad, Gujarat and Prof. Palanisamy Selvamani, Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Anna University, BIT Campus, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. The scientific session was terminated with lecture of Prof. T. S. Shanmugarajan, Department of Pharmaceutics, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Vels Deemed to be University (VISTAS), Pallavaram, Chennai, Tamil Nadu on the topic ‘Stem cells and hydrogels for tissue engineering’ in face to face mode.
