Association of Pharmacy Professionals (APP) Switzerland International Branch organized 3rd Indo-Swiss Conference on “Current Practices in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Drug Development” at Chaitanya College of Pharmacy Education and Research, Hanamkonda, Warangal, Telangana on Dec 24, 2019, in collaboration with APP Industrial Pharmacy and Drug Regulatory Affairs (IP-DRA) Division and APP Warangal Local Branch.
During this APP-CCPER collaborative conference, Dr. Ch. V. Purushotham Reddy, Chairman, Chaitanya Group of Colleges and Chancellor, Chaitanya Institute of Science and Technology (Deemed to be University), Hanamkonda, Warangal as ‘Chief Patron’; Mr. E. Vikram Reddy and Dr. Ch. Sathvika, Co-Chairmans, Chaitanya Group of Colleges, Hanamkonda, Warangal as ‘Patrons’; Dr. Rajiv Dahiya, Director, School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medical Sciences, The University of The West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad & Tobago acted as ‘Organizing Chairman’; Dr. V. Rajkumar, Principal, Chaitanya College of Pharmacy Education and Research, Hanamkonda, Warangal as ‘Convener’; Dr. Sachin Dubey, President, APP Switzerland International Branch and Head, Formulation Development (Biologics), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals S.A., Switzerland and Prof. Gummadevelley Sandeep, Head, APP Warangal Local Branch and Head, Department of Drug Regulatory Affairs, Pathfinder Institute of Pharmacy Education and Research, Warangal as ‘Co-conveners’; Dr. Suresh V. Chennupati, President, APP Ethiopian International Branch from Department of Pharmacy, College of Medical and Health Sciences, Wollega University, Nekemte, Ethiopia as ‘Scientific Committee Chairman’ and Prof. A. Muralidhar Rao, President, APP Telangana State Branch and Principal, St. Mary’s College of Pharmacy, Secunderabad as ‘Scientific Committee Co-Chairman’.
During the event, Dr. Kashyap Nagariya, National Coordinator, APP IP-DRA Division and Principal Scientist, Jamp India Pharmaceuticals Limited, Ahmedabad, Gujarat and Dr. A. Pavani, Professor, Department of Biotechnology, Sri Venkateshwara Pharmacy College, Madhapur, Hyderabad, Telangana addressed the professional gathering on issues related to pharmaceutical sciences and drug development including ‘Technology upgradation in academic-industrial research and pharmaceutical development’.
During the valedictory function, Dr. Reddy Sunil, Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics, SVS Institute of Pharmacy, Warangal was conferred with ‘Best Achiever Award’; Dr. G. Vamshi Krishna, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis, Chaitanya College of Pharmacy Education and Research, Warangal with ‘Best Researcher Award’; Ms. K. Visalakski, Pharmacist, Warangal with ‘Best Pharmacist Award’ which was given in memory of ‘Late Sh. Tarsem Jain‘, Editor, Pharma Pramarsh; Mr. K. Anil Goud, Research Scholar, Department of Pharmaceutics, University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kakatiya University, Warangal with ‘Best Research Scholar Award’; Dr. J. Venkateshwar Rao, Principal & Professor, Talla Padmavathi College of Pharmacy, Warangal with ‘Best Teacher Award’; Mrs. E. Deepthi, Research Scholar, Department of Pharmacology, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manipal, Karnataka with ‘Best Talent Award’; Mr. Y. Vikram, Ms. M. Usha Sreeand, Ms. D. INDO-SWISS CONFERENCE

Association of Pharmacy Professionals (APP) Switzerland International Branch organized two-days 4th Indo-Swiss Virtual International Conference on “Current Scenario and Challenges in Pharmacy Practice and Pharmaceutical Sciences” at Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Enikepadu, Vijayawada, Krishna, Andhra Pradesh on May 20-21, 2022, in collaboration with APP Uttar Pradesh State Branch and APP CommClinPharm Division, in the commemoration of ‘World Hypertension Day‘.
During this APP-VIPSW collaborative conference, Sri. B. S. Sri Krishna, Secretary, SRK foundation, Vijayawada, Krishna, Andhra Pradesh acted as ‘Patron’; Dr. Rajiv Dahiya, Director, School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medical Sciences, The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad & Tobago, West Indies as ‘Organizing Chairman’; Prof. K. Padmalatha, Principal, Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Vijayawada, Krishna, Andhra Pradesh as ‘Convener’; Prof. Subas Chandra Dinda, Department of Pharmaceutics, College of Pharmacy, Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh as ‘Co-Convener’; Dr. Sunita Dahiya, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Pharmacy, University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus, San Juan, PR, USA as ‘Scientific Committee Chairman’ and Prof. M. Ramesh, Divisional Head, APP Community & Clinical Pharmacy Division and HOD, Department of Pharmacy Practice, JSS College of Pharmacy, JSSAHER Deemed to be University, Mysore, Karnataka as ‘Scientific Committee Co-Chairman’.
The conference started with ‘welcome speech’ by Prof. Purushothama Reddy K, HOD, Department of Pharmacy Practice, Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Vijayawada and inaugural remarks by Prof. Subas Chandra Dinda, President, APP Uttar Pradesh State Branch from Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Uttar Pradesh and Dr. Sunita Dahiya, General Secretary APP from University of Puerto Rico, San Juan, PR, USA. Furthermore, Prof. S. Venkateswara Rao, Vice Principal & HOD, Department of Pharmaceutics, Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Vijayawada described the “objective” of the two-days Indo-Swiss Virtual International Conference.
Scientific sessions of the conference were enriched with speakers from International and National Universities and Institutions like Dr. Sachin Dubey, President, APP Switzerland International Branch and Director, Analytical and Formulation Sciences, KBI Biopharma, Plan-les-Ouates, Geneva, Switzerland; Dr. Jisha Myalil Lucca, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice, College of Clinical Pharmacy, Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University, Dammam, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Prof. Kuntal Das, Department of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry, Krupanidhi College of Pharmacy, Bangalore, Karnataka; Prof. K. Karthickeyan, Head, Department of Pharmacy Practice, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, VISTAS Deemed to be University, Pallavaram, Chennai, Tamil Nadu and Prof. Piyush Mittal, Head, Department of Clinical Pharmacy, College of Pharmacy, Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh who addressed the professional gathering on topics like ‘Role of biopharmaceuticals in present day disease management’, ‘Substance abuse: The real war on drugs’, ‘Standardization and versatile preliminary screening technologies of herbals: A scientific research for establishment as marketed drug’, ‘Advancements in clinical pharmacy Practice’ and ‘Adverse events following immunization in children receiving vaccination’.
Scientific lecture sessions were chaired by Prof. Govindasamy Jeyabalan (Principal, Alwar Pharmacy College, Alwar, Rajasthan); Dr. Ritu Kataria (Principal, G.V.M. College of Pharmacy, Sonipat, Haryana); Prof. Suresh V. Chennupati (Nalanda College of Pharmacy, Cherlapally, Nalgonda, Telangana); Prof. Bhakti Bhusan Barik (Brainware University, Barasat, Kolkata, West Bengal); Dr. Jeny Samuel (Associate Professor, St. Josephs College of Pharmacy, Cherthala, Alappuzha, Kerala) and Dr. Saurabh Dahiya (Associate Professor, Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University, New Delhi). Different scientific sessions were anchored by Prof. S. Sundar, HOD, Department of Pharmacology, Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Vijayawada; Dr. N. Prathiba, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice, Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Vijayawada; Mrs. A. Bhavana, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacology, Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Vijayawada and Mrs. Ch. Anupama Swathi, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis, Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. Oral and poster sessions were chaired by Prof. T. E. Gopala Krishna Murthy, Principal, Bapatla College of Pharmacy, Bapatla, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh; Prof. M. Vani, HOD, Department of Pharmacognosy & Phytochemistry, Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women Vijayawada, Krishna, Andhra Pradesh and Dr. Arigela Bharathi, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics, KVSR Siddhartha College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.
During the valedictory function, Prof. Suman Pattanayak, Principal, Haldia Institute of Pharmacy, Hatiberia, Haldia, Purba Medinipur, West Bengal  was conferred with ‘APP Young Performer Award’ (Late Sh. Ranbir Singh Memorial Award 2022) for his noteworthy contribution toward pharmaceutical teaching, research and administration; Mrs. Meena Devi, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics, G.V.M. College of Pharmacy, Sonipat, Haryana with ‘Best Teacher Award’ in recognition of her noteworthy teaching services and Mr. Shivam Kumar Shukla, B.Pharm Student, Nand Kishore College of Pharmacy, Naini, Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh with ‘Best Student Award’ in recognition of his vital academic performance. Also, appreciation awards were extended to Sri. B. S. Sri Krishna, Secretary, SRK Foundation, Vijayawada and Prof. K. Padmalatha, Principal, Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Vijayawada for valuable support in successful organization of the conference.
Moreover, Mrs. Deepika.B, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics, St. Pauls College of Pharmacy, Turkayamjal, Ranga Reddy, Telangana was conferred with “Late Smt. Shyam Sundri Memorial Outstanding Oration Award 2022” for holding ‘first place’ in virtual oration competition for her presentation entitled ‘Development of controlled release Miglitol matrix tablets: Novel approach to improve half-life’ and Ms. Wellecia Mullings, MBBS Student, School of Medicine, Faculty of Medical Sciences, The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad & Tobago with “Appreciation Award” for her presentation on ‘Type 2 diabetes: Herbal treatment options for worldwide serious metabolic disorder’.
The two-days conference ended with ‘closing remarks’ by Dr. Rajiv Dahiya, Director, School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medical Sciences, The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad & Tobago and ‘vote of thanks’ by Mr. A. Jayarami Reddy, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacology, Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Vijayawada, Krishna, Andhra Pradesh.
