Association of Pharmacy Professionals (APP) Gujarat State Branch and APP West Indies International Branch jointly organized 5th Indo-West Indies Conference on “Modern Trends in Pharmaceutical Education and Research” on 10th December 2017 at Indubhai Patel College of Pharmacy and Research Centre (IPCPRC), Dharmaj, Petlad, Anand, Gujarat.
During this scientific conference, Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sahu from Centre for Medical Sciences Education (CMSE), Faculty of Medical Sciences, The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad & Tobago acted as ‘Chief Guest‘; Sh. Jitendra Bhai R. Patel, Chairman, Sanskruti Sanraksha Charitable Trust, Dharmaj acted as ‘Chief Patron‘; Sh. DevangBhai Patel, Trustee, Sanskruti Sanraksha Charitable Trust, Dharmaj acted as ‘Patron‘; Prof. B. N. Suhagia, Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, DD University, Nadiad, Gujarat acted as ‘Organizing Chairman‘; Dr. Nehal J. Shah, Principal, IPCPRC, Dharmaj, Anand, Gujarat acted as ‘Organizing Secretary‘; Dr. Sunita Dahiya, General Secretray APP from School of Pharmacy, University of Puerto Rico, San Juan, Puerto Rico, United States acted as ‘Convener‘; Dr. Jayvadan K. Patel, President, APP Gujarat State Branch and Principal, Nootan Pharmacy College, Visnagar, Mehsana, Gujarat acted as ‘Co-convener‘; Dr. Rajiv Dahiya, Founder President APP and Director, School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medical Sciences, The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago acted as ‘Scientific Committee Chairman‘ in absentia and Dr. Mayank Bapna, Associate Professor, Department of Medicinal Chemistry, IPCPRC, Dharmaj, Anand, Gujarat acted as ‘Co-ordinator‘.
Scientific session of the conference was enriched with keynote lecture of Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sahu, Lecturer (Curriculum Development), Centre for Medical Sciences Education (CMSE), Faculty of Medical Sciences, The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad & Tobago who addressed the gathering on the topic ‘Students’ Perceptions of Small Group Teaching Effectiveness in Hybrid Curriculum’. Dr. Sahu told that problem based learning is an effective small group teaching method for medical and pharmacy students. Moreover, faculty development and students’ training programmes are required before implementing problem based learning (PBL). Another lecture was delivered by Dr. Alka Agarwal, Principal, U. S. Ostwal Institute of Pharmacy, Mangalwad, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan and National Head, APP Drug Design & MedChem Division on the topic ‘Novel Methods in Drug Design and Development: Challenges and Success’. Dr. Agarwal was honored with ‘APP Fellow Membership 2017’ for her overall contribution in the pharmacy profession. Scientific session was terminated with oration by Dr. Gunjan Jadon, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Shrinathji Institute of Pharmacy, Nathdwara, Rajasthan and National Coordinator, APP Drug Design & MedChem Division for which she was honored with ‘APP Outstanding Oration Award 2017‘ (Mr. Manas Tripathi Memorial Award) during the conference.
During valedictory function, Prof. Bhanubhai N. Suhagia, Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, DD University, Nadiad, Gujarat was conferred with ‘APP Best Researcher Award 2017’ and Dr. C. N. Patel, Principal, Shri Sarvajanik Pharmacy College, Mehsana, Gujarat was conferred with ‘APP Best Faculty Award 2017’. Also appreciation awards were distributed to chairman and principal of hosting college.
Various posters were presented during this international-level conference and best poster prizes were given to Mr. Umang Shah from Ramanbhai Patel College of Pharmacy, Charotar University of Science and Technology, Petlad, Anand on topic ‘Identification of Potential Chalcone Derivatives: Non-Steroidal Aromatase Inhibitors for Breast Cancer by Molecular Docking and ADMET Prediction’; Ms. Ruby Christian from Anand Pharmacy College, Anand on topic ‘Enhancement of Oral Bioavailability of Withania Somnifera Extract by Novel Self Micro emulsifying Drug Delivery System’ and Ms. Inaxi Parmar from Department of Pharmacy, Sumandeep University, Baroda on topic ‘In silico Design of Human Cyclin Dependent Kinase-2 (CDK-2) Inhibitors using Pharmacophore Mapping and Molecular Docking Approaches’.

Scientific session of the conference was enriched with lectures of Dr. Rajiv Dahiya, Founder President APP & Director, School of Pharmacy, The University of the West Indies, Trinidad and Tobago; Prof. Saurabh Dahiya, President, APP Haryana State Branch & Head, Department of Pharmacy, Lingaya’s University, Faridabad, Haryana; Dr. Gaurav Gupta, National Head, APP MolPharm Division from School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Jaipur National University, Jaipur and Dr. Saurabh Kumar Banerjee, Executive Member, APP Rajasthan State Branch from School of Pharmaceutical Management, The IIHMR University, Jaipur who addressed the professional gathering on diverse topics of pharmaceutical interest like ‘Cancer: Impact on Public Health & Pharmacist’s Crucial Role in its Prevention‘, ‘Digital India, Digital Pharmacy Profession‘, ‘Recent Advances in Insulin Therapy for Diabetes‘ and ‘Pharmacovigilance: A Bright Career Opportunity for Pharmacy Graduates‘. During his lecture, Prof. Dahiya discussed that pharmacists, being important part of the health care team need to take lead in using digital technologies towards betterment of healthcare deliverable for all patients.

Association of Pharmacy Professionals (APP) Madhya Pradesh State Branch and APP Molecular Pharmacology Division jointly organized 1st Indo-Caribbean Conference on “Development & Optimization of Methods for the Analysis of Pharmaceuticals on 18th-19th July 2018 at ShriRam College of Pharmacy, Banmore, Morena, Madhya Pradesh, in collaboration with APP West Indies International Branch and Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology (MPCST).
During this APP-SRCP collaborative conference, Prof. M. P. Kaushik, Pro Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Gwalior acted as ‘Chief Guest‘; Dr. Rajiv Dahiya, President, Association of Pharmacy Professionals as ‘Guest of Honor‘; Sh. R. S. Scientific session of this scientific event was enriched with lectures of Dr. Sunita Dahiya, General Secretary APP from Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Pharmacy, University of Puerto Rico, San Juan, PR, USA; Prof. Mohammed Ali, Ex-Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi; Dr. Rajiv Dahiya, Director, School of Pharmacy, The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago and Dr. Gaurav Gupta, National Head, APP MolPharm Division from School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Jaipur National University, Jaipur, Rajasthan who addressed the professional gathering on different topics of pharmaceutical interest like  ‘Analytical Characterization of Drug-Cyclodextrin Inclusion: A Case of a Phenyl Acetic Acid Derivative‘, ‘Analysis of Phytopharmaceuticals by using Sophisticated Analytical Techniques‘, ‘Structural Analysis of Cyclic Peptides utilizing Diverse Sophisticated Techniques‘ and ‘Application of Green Chemistry in Pharmaceutical Industry‘. All the speakers of the conference were conferred with ‘Certificates of Appreciation‘ after their lectures. During valedictory function, Prof. Anantha Naik Nagappa, Director, Amity Institute of Pharmacy, Amity University, Gwalior acted as ‘Special Guest’.
The conference ended with announcement of APP Delhi State Branch with Prof. Mohd. Ali as ‘President’ of the Branch. Further, Dr. Raghvendra Kumar Mishra (Amity Institute of Biotechnology, Amity University, Gwalior), Dr. Naveen Sharma (ShriRam College of Pharmacy, Banmore), Dr. Sashi Patil (The City College, Gwalior); Mr. Amit Prajapati (ShriRam College of Pharmacy, Banmore) were felicitated with ‘Best Achiever Award‘, ‘Best Researcher Award‘, ‘Best Teacher Award‘, ‘Best Student Award‘ respectively. At the end, Sh. R. S. The other key speakers were Dr. Rajiv Dahiya, Director, School of Pharmacy, The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago and Dr. Sunita Dahiya from Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Pharmacy, University of Puerto Rico, San Juan, PR, USA who addressed the gathering on diverse topics of pharmaceutical interest.

Also, names of Dr. Ramana Hechhu, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacy, College of Health Sciences and Medicine, Wolaita Sodo University, Wolaita Sodo, Ethiopia;  Dr. K. Bala Ram Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis and Quality Assurance, School of Pharmacy, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Haramaya University, Ethiopia and Dr. S.P. Preethi Priyadharshni, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry, School of Pharmacy, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Haramaya University, Ethiopia were announced as new ‘President‘, ‘Joint Secretary‘ and ‘Executive Member‘ of APP Ethiopian International Branch. Dr. Gananadhamu Samanthula, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Balanagar, Hyderabad, Telangana was nominated as new ‘National Coordinator‘ of APP AnalChem Division. Moreover, three outstanding students of outer states viz. Mr. Akhilesh Tiwari, B.Pharm (2nd Year) Student, Shri Sai College of Pharmacy, Upardaha, Handia, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh; Ms. K. Charulatha, B.Tech (3rd Year) Student, Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, University College of Engineering, Anna University, BIT Campus, Trichy, Tamilnadu and Mr. Sauraj Verma, B.Pharm (3rd Year) Student, U.S. Ostwal Institute of Pharmacy, Mangalwad, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan were honored with ‘Best Student Awards‘ for their vital academic performance. This session concluded with announcement of Dr. Yogesh Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Institute of Pharmaceutical Research, GLA University, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh for ‘Young Talent Award 2021‘ for his outstanding academic/research output in the national category.

Association of Pharmacy Professionals (APP) Telangana State Branch organized two-days 9th Indo-West Indies International Conference on “Pharmaceutical Sciences in Global Scenario: A Focus on Pharmacological Prospectives” at Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Enikepadu, Vijayawada, NTR District, Andhra Pradesh on Mar 24-25, 2023, in collaboration with APP American International Branch and APP Molecular Pharmacology Division, on the occasion of “World Tuberculosis Day 2023″. During this Indo-West Indies International Conference, Sri. B. S. Sri Krishna, Secretary, SRK Foundation, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh acted as ‘Patron’; Prof K. The first day of conference started with ‘welcome speech’ by Prof. S. Venkateswara Rao, Vice Principal & HOD, Department of Pharmaceutics, Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Enikepadu, Vijayawada and ‘opening remarks’ by Dr. Rajiv Dahiya, President APP and Former Director, School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medical Sciences, The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad & Tobago, West Indies. The scientific session of the conference included the lecture of Dr. Terry G. Ramnanansingh, Research Officer, South-West Regional Health Authority, San Fernando, Trinidad & Tobago, West Indies on ‘The Sex Independent Angle of Type 2 Diabetes’ in virtual mode. The online session was chaired by Prof. Somnath De, Department of Pharmacology, St. Paul’s College of Pharmacy, Turkayamjal, Abdullapurmet, Ranga Reddy, Telangana and Prof. Deepak Kumar, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Shoolini University, Solan, Himachal Pradesh. The first lecture was followed by e-poster and oration session where more than 45 candidates participated and presented their papers in different sessions. E-poster and oral session was chaired by faculties of various departments of Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Enikepadu, Vijayawada including Mrs. B. Hemalatha, Dr. N. Prathiba, Mrs. A. Bhavana, Mrs. S. Archana, Mrs. D. Prasana, Prof. S. Venkateswara Rao, Prof. Purushothama Reddy K, Mr. A. Jayarami Reddy, Prof. S. Sundar and Prof. M. Vani.
The second day of conference started with ‘opening remarks’ by Prof. Suresh V. Chennupati, National Head, APP AnalChem Division and HOD, Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis, Nalanda College of Pharmacy, Nalgonda, Telangana. On the second day, face to face lectures of Prof. A. Muralidhar Rao, President, APP Telangana State Branch and Dean of Studies, St. Mary’s College of Pharmacy, Secunderabad, Telangana and Prof. Ronald Darwin C, Head, Department of Pharmacology, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Vels Institute of Science Technology and Advanced Studies (VISTAS), Pallavaram, Chennai, Tamil Nadu were delivered on diverse aspects related to pharmaceutical sciences viz. ‘Beyond Serendipity: The Science of Screening Methods in Drug Discovery’ andNeurotoxin – Do they Mimics Neurodegenerative Disorders’. The offline session were chaired by Prof. M. Vani, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Phytochemistry, Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Enikepadu, Vijayawada and Prof. S. Sundar, Department of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Enikepadu, Vijayawada. During the valedictory function, Dr. Madhu Gudipati, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics, Vignan Pharmacy College, Vadlamudi, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh was conferred with ‘Young Pharmacy Teacher Award 2023’ for his teaching accomplishments; Ms. Polukonda Bhuvaneswari, M.Pharm Student, Department of Pharmaceutics, Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Vijayawada with ‘Best Student Award’ in PG Category for her vital academic performance; Ms. Bezawada Vijaya Sainika, Pharm.D Student, Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Vijayawada and Mr. Aakash.R, Pharm.D Student, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, VISTAS, Pallavaram, Chennai, Tamil Nadu with ‘Best Student Awards’ for their noteworthy academic performance. Awards were distributed by President, APP Telangana State Branch; National Head, APP AnalChem Division; Vice Principal of hosting college and the Coordinator of the Indo-West Indies International Conference.
Furthermore, Dr. Sateesh Kumar Vemula, Postdoctoral Research Associate, Department of Pharmaceutics & Drug Delivery, School of Pharmacy, University of Mississippi, Oxford, Mississippi, USA was felicitated with ‘Young Talent Award 2023’ virtually for his outstanding performance in the pharmaceutical teaching and research. Moreover, President APP launched Association’s Canadian International Branch with Dr. Shyam Shastri Maharaj, Clinical Pharmacist, St. Joseph’s Healthcare, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada as ‘President’; Dr. Raja Abhilash Punagoti, Pharmacovigilance Associate, Innomar Strategies Inc., AmerisourceBergen, Oakville, Ontario, Canada as ‘Vice President’; Dr. Komalpreet Kaur, Employment Instructor, Catholic Family Services, Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada as ‘Joint Secretary’. Also, APP DrugDesign MedChem Division was expanded with Dr. Rakesh Kumar Tiwari, Assistant Professor of Biopharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences, Chapman University, Rinker Health Science Campus, Irvine, California, USA as new ‘International Head’ and Prof. Deepak Kumar, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Shoolini University, Solan, Himachal Pradesh as new ‘National Coordinator’. Moreover, APP Analytical Chemistry Division was modified with Prof. M. Vijey Aanandhi, Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Analysis, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, VISTAS, Pallavaram, Chennai, Tamilnadu as new ‘National Coordinator’ and APP Community and Clinical Pharmacy Division was expanded with Prof. Purushothama Reddy K, HOD, Department of Pharmacy Practice, Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women, Vijayawada as new ‘National Coordinator’.
The conference ended with announcement of winners of oral/poster competition and ‘closing remarks’ by Prof. S.
